Planning an event on campus?

The Department of Public Safety is here to help make it safe and successful. No matter the size—whether it’s a small gathering or a large, high-attendance event—we can:

Review your plans with a safety lens
Provide guidance and recommendations
Draft a safety plan and connect you with resources if needed

When should you reach out?

Anytime you’re wondering if safety might be a factor. It’s always better to ask—we’re happy to walk through it with you.

You should especially contact us if your event includes:

  • A guest speaker with a sensitive, polarizing, or political topic
  • Conflicting viewpoints among campus groups
  • A history of threats or concerns related to the speaker or topic
  • A speaker who has specifically requested security support
Or if your event involves:

  • Large crowds (100+ attendees)
  • Venues where capacity or crowd management could be a concern

Not sure?

Even if you’re uncertain, please reach out. When in doubt, reach out! We’re here to support and partner with you in making your event safe.
